#23 Orediggers Dismantle Westminster, 3-0

GOLDEN, Colo. – The #23-ranked Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team dominated Westminster College Saturday night behind a balanced attack and stingy defense as the Orediggers swept the Griffins inside Lockridge Arena.
 
Janice Jin led Mines' offense with 10 kills while hitting .600. Teammate Abby Tiesman and sister Lindsey Jin were not far behind with eight kills each while hitting .333 and .467, respectively. Drew Stokes and Delaney Duis split the setting duties as Stokes recorded 24 assists and Duis dished out 14 of her own. Amanda Donais chipped in with five service aces and seven kills.
 
Defensively, Tiesman led all players with six total blocks including one solo stuff and five block assists. Elle Duis anchored the Orediggers at libero with 14 digs over three sets. Danielle Mullen and Hannah Martin also added eight digs apiece.
 
As a team, Mines (15-2, 9-0 RMAC) hit .494, breaking the program record for hitting percentage in a three-set match, while holding Westminster (5-11, 3-5 RMAC) to -.037 on the attack. The victory extends the Orediggers winning streak to nine matches, dating back to the beginning of September.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mines wasted no time setting the tone as it hit .577 as a team and racked up five total blocks in the opening set. Tiesman participated on all five blocks and Janice Jin racked up four kills in the Orediggers 25-11 win.
 
In the second set, Mines' defense got even stingier as it limited the Griffins to a -.077 hitting percentage. This time it was Lindsey Jin with four kills while five other Orediggers added two kills each in the 25-7 victory. That momentum carried through intermission into the final set as Mines punctuated its sweep with a 25-8 win to clinch the match.
 
NOTABLES
- Mines is now 4-0 in the all-time series against Westminster College.
- The Orediggers have not lost a match in 29 days, dating back to Sept. 1 in Indianapolis.
- Over 10 players on Mines' 15-person roster entered the match Saturday.
- Saturday marked the Orediggers' eighth sweep of the season.
- Mines is the only RMAC team with an unblemished record in league play.
