Orediggers Shake Off BHSU, Extend Streak To 13

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines shook off a tough Black Hills State team, 78-67, to remain undefeated in RMAC play and extend its win streak to 13 games.

The Orediggers (14-3, 11-0 RMAC) were led by the duo of Mason Baker and Ben Clare, who each had 17 points, and Michael Glen's double-double as they out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets (7-8, 6-5 RMAC) by a 33-19 margin.
Ben Sonnefeld matched a career high dishing nine assists to go with 11 points.

The Yellow Jackets played tough defense the entire way as Mines only pulled away in the closing minutes to ensure the win. A big second-half turnaround was key for Mines after they shot 41.4 percent in the first, coming out to start the second making eight of their first 10 shots on the way to a 76.2-percent half.

Mines led by as much as eight in the first half after a Brendan Sullivan three-pointer made it 24-16 halfway through, but chipped away and made it a four-point game, 34-30, at the half. Mines quickly got out to its largest lead of the game to that point, 45-35, to start the second half after back-to-back jumpers by Sonnefeld and Clare, but BHSU again reeled in the Orediggers and got as close as five after a Connor O'Hearn layup made it a 48-43 game.

Mines finally cracked the game open with an 11-2 run deep in the second half to blow the lead to 65-51; Baker's three-pointer was the momentum shift in that stretch, and BHSU never got closer than nine points after that.
