Brandon earns RMAC Coach of the Year honors for the second straight campaign after guiding Mines to its first unbeaten regular season since 2004. The Orediggers own one of the nation's best defenses as well as a potent offense, and entering the NCAA Tournament they are one of only three teams nationally to own both a top-10 offense and defense.
Matocha dazzled as a true freshman, taking the reins in week 2 and throwing for 2,352 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just five interceptions while also rushing for 533 yards and 10 scores. Matocha ranks second in NCAA Division II with a 73.8 completion percentage and was a four-time RMAC and two-time NFFCC Player of the Week this season.
Each of Mines' first-team honorees stood out as among the best as their positions in 2019. Zeman took over mid-season for an injured
Cameron Mayberry and ran for an RMAC-best 1,292 yards plus 12 touchdowns despite only starting five games; he was pushed by an outstanding offensive line led by Stewart and Ullestad, both returning all-RMAC linemen at tackle and center, respectively. Bauer has been one of the RMAC's premier outside linebackers with 30 tackles, 5.5 for a loss, and a sack plus three break-ups and three total turnovers, while Mansfield has led the nation's #1 rushing defense with 54 tackles, 9.0 for a loss, and a sack from his middle linebacker spot.
On the second team, Minnehan produced 51 tackles with 7.5 for a loss, two sacks, and seven break-ups from the other outside linebacker spot, Jeter pummeled opposing offenses with 11.5 TFL and seven sacks among his 33 tackles, and Johnston is Mines' leading receiver with 788 yards and 14 touchdowns off 47 catches.
