GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -
Two new program relay records and two individual medals highlighted the first night of finals at the 2022 RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Grand Junction.

Both the men's 200-free and 200-medley relays set new standards while Meghan Slowey won silver in the 1,000-free and Jorie Selig bronze in the 50-free. Both Oredigger teams are in second place with the men tallying 224.5 points and the women 207.5.

Thursday prelims begin at 9 a.m. with the 100-fly, 400-IM, and 200-free on the docket.

200-FREE RELAY
The men's relay of Harry Smith, Braden Hunt, Seth Krause, and Garrett Waite set a new program record in a blazing-fast final as all three teams set NCAA B times. Mines touched in 1:21.15 with CMU at 1:20.33 and Oklahoma Christian at 1:21.02. Waite anchored in 19.71. Their time shaved seven-tenths off the mark set in the same pool earlier this season at the A3 Invite.

The women's relay just missed out on their own record as they took silver in 1:35.53 with Jorie Selig, Annie Osmun, Maggie Wells, and Maddie Finley, who closed in 23.44.

1,000-FREESTYLE
Slowey earned the 1,000-free silver medal in an NCAA B time of 10:19.92, with Isabella Bono seventh in 10:43.05. The Oredigger men didn't have any competitors in the evening timed final but five swimmers from the morning got into the top 10 on their times led by Ronan Lauinger finishing sixth with Jaron O'Grady, Scott Reeder, Josh Lee, and Henry Oberley finishing seventh through tenth, respectively.

200-IM
Charles Burroughs closed fourth in the men's 200-IM in 1:50.74 after breaking the program record in prelims, and Braden Whitmarsh dropped nearly two seconds from his morning time to place seventh in 1:52.71. In the "B" final, Jack Engler was 11th (1:54.54), Nick Delany 13th (1:54.84), and Gavin Gilmore 14th (1:55.24).

Olivia Kisow finished fifth in 2:08.80, and Erin Taggart seventh in 2:11.77 as Mines' two "A" final swimmers. Jess Engel won the "B" final and finished ninth overall in 2:11.91, with Sophia Buhr 11th in 2:12.23 and Ava Burger 14th in 2:15.99.

50-FREESTYLE
Selig claimed the bronze medal in the women's 50-free, tying for third in 23.99 with Maddie Finley not far behind in a sixth-place 24.06. Only a quarter-second separated first through fourth in the final. Annie Osmun won the "B" final in 24.14, with Maggie Wells 14th in 24.79.

In the men's final, Garrett Waite swam 20.60 to tie for fifth in another NCAA B time, and Harry Smith closed eighth in 20.82. In the "B" final, Seth Krause was 10th overall in 20.91, Braden Hunt 11th in 20.97, and Michael Kietzman 14th in 21.14.

200-MEDLEY RELAY
Both Oredigger relays medaled, led by the men's squad of Sam LaPrade, Waite, Robert Clayton, and Smith who took second in 1:28.76, another new program record. That bested the time of 1:29.66 set at last year's RMAC meet.

The women's relay of Emma Neuroth, Burger, Buhr, and Maddie Finley swam 1:48.00 for third.
