SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Colorado School of Mines Women's Soccer team remained unbeaten Thursday night after battling #25 Angelo State to a 2-2 draw at ASU Soccer Field.
Reese McDermott and
Afton Rasco both scored unassisted goals for Mines (2-0-1). Katelin Heise and Reagan Urbany had the markers for Angelo State (2-0-1) thanks to assists from Valerie Solis, Cindy Rodriguez and Hadley Coronado. Same as the score, shots proved relatively even with the Orediggers posting 12 attempts including five on goal while the RamBelles notched 13 attempts with seven on target. Both teams earned four corner-kick opportunities.
The opening 45 minutes went scoreless with the visiting Orediggers owning a 5-4 edge in shots and a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal at halftime. After the break, Solis and Rodriguez teamed up to help Heise find the back of the net in the 52nd minute, giving ASU a 1-0 lead. However, McDermott gave Mines the equalizer in unassisted fashion in the 58th minute. Then, Rasco pushed the Orediggers to a 2-1 lead in the 75th minute. Angelo State found a late marker in the 83rd minute with Coronado finding Urbany for the tally. That made the final score.
