Mines Cruises Past Findlay, Simon Fraser

GUNNISON, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines improved to 5-0 as they cruised to a pair of wins over Findlay and Simon Fraser Saturday at the Tracy Borah Duals tournament.

The Orediggers were led by a two-pin day from Anderson Salisbury, with Grayston DiBlasi, Teague Dilbeck, Jack Damenti, Levi Farris, and Ryan Cody also each winning twice. 

It marks the second straight season that Mines has started out 5-0 in dual action. 
 

DUAL 1 - Colorado School of Mines 45, Findlay 3
Mines had four pins among six bonus-point victories as they dominated Findlay, 45-3.

Christian Lopez got things off to the right start with a first-period pin of Nicholas Korhorn, and #11 Grayston DiBlasi dominated with three near-falls in an 18-0 technical fall victory over Cade Cass at 141. More bonus points came Mines' way at 149 as Teague Dilbeck controlled a 13-0 major decision over Mason Kleinberg.

In his first collegiate dual start, Daniel Caddy did all the scoring with a first-period takedown, second-period escape, and riding time to blank Chase Moore 4-0 to extend the Oredigger lead to 18-3, and Jack Damenti eased past Gary Nilson 8-2 at 165. Levi Farris made his season debut a memorable one at 174, coming back from a 6-0 first-period deficit to defeat Kenny Snyder 10-6 thanks to a seven-point second period that included a takedown to near-fall. 

Ryan Cody and #5 Anderson Salisbury earned a pair of rapid-fire falls at 184 and 197, respectively, both finishing their bouts in under two minutes, and Anthony Atria capped the dual with a crazy finish as he responded from 6-0 down in the first period to reverse Keigan Yuhas into a pin at 2:35.

It was the first-ever meeting between Mines and the Oilers.

DUAL 2 - Colorado School of Mines 39, Simon Fraser 7
It was another runaway victory for Colorado School of Mines in their second dual of the day, handily beating Simon Fraser 39-7. 

The Orediggers got off to another fast start as SFU forfeited 125 and Weston DiBlasi, up a weight at 133, pinned Marques Calapiz in 1:41 to lead 12-0. #11 Grayston DiBlasi then outlasted Randy McDonald 5-2 with a first-period takedown and third-period reversal.

Teague Dilbeck had three near-falls in an 18-2 technical fall win over Samuel Patton at 149, but Magnus McCrackin got the Red Leafs on the board with a come-from-behind 7-6 decision over Daniel Caddy at 157, using a last-minute takedown to win. Jack Damenti earned a bonus-point win with all the offense in a 14-1 major decision over Patrik Leder, and Levi Farris also added bonus points in a 1:22 pin of Peter McCrackin. Ryan Cody and Rick Feroce combined for 20 points in a wild first-period before Cody controlled the bout and won 16-9, and Anderson Salisbury needed only 1:13 to pin Owen Gundmunson at 197. Simon Fraser ended with a win at 285 pounds as Taniela Feliciano-Takafua defeated Deandre Rucker 12-1 in a major decision.

Mines and Simon Fraser were dualing for the first time since 2017; the Orediggers improved to 4-0 all-time against them.
