GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Highlights were aplenty for the Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams on Wednesday night at the 2023 RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships at El Pomar Natatorium.
Â
Overall, the Orediggers produced seven NCAA-qualifying times, four RMAC medals, and four program records. The 200-IM finals were the highlight while the 200-medley relay did not disappoint. All four medals led to podium appearances and All-RMAC honors. Those results pushed Mines' women up to #2 in the team standings while the men held strong at #3. Colorado Mesa kept its hold on #1 in both genders with Oklahoma Christian sitting #2 in the men's standings.
Â
The RMAC Championships continue Thursday morning at 9 a.m. with prelims in the 100-fly, 400-IM, and 200-free. Thursday evening finals include the previously-mentioned events and the 400-medley relay. All action will
stream live, and for free, on the RMAC Network.

1000-Freestyle
Meghan Slowey powered to a silver medal in 10:15.83 to provide Mines' distance highlight of the evening. Not only did she earn a medal, a podium appearance and First-Team All-RMAC, the Oredigger senior also provided a time, after altitude conversion, that would've ranked #2 in NCAA Division II prior to the weekend. However, Slowey wasn't the only woman scoring for Mines in the event.
Isabella Bono took #5 in 10:35.82 for her own NCAA "B" time and 14 team points.
Maggie Wells added nine team points thanks to a time of 10:50.43.

200-Individual Medley
Oredigger highlights for the evening rolled right into the 200-IM.
Annie Osmun topped the list with a bronze medal while breaking her own program record with a time of 2:05.24. Garrett Waite proved fast enough for a RMAC silver medal as he dropped his own program record to 1:48.86. The First-Team All-RMAC also produced a raw NCAA "B" time that needed no conversion. Even so, with conversion, his mark would have ranked #7 in NCAA Division II prior to the start of the championships.
