MANHEIM, Pa. -
Cody Thompson is the nation's top-ranked 149-pounder to highlight the NWCA preseason polls announced Monday.

Thompson is #1 at 149 and Grayston DiBlasi is #10 at 141 pounds to lead the Orediggers in the individual rankings. As a team, Mines checks in at #20 in the preseason coaches' poll, one of four RMAC teams in the top 25 along with T#12 Colorado Mesa and Adams State, and #16 Western Colorado. Mines was also the fourth-ranked team in the recent RMAC preseason coaches' poll. St. Cloud State is the top-ranked team followed by #2 Central Oklahoma. The poll is a tournament power index and is not based off dual meet strength.

Thompson debuted as the top-ranked individual at 149 pounds after his appearance in the national final a year ago, capping a 25-3 overall season that included the NCAA regional title and NWCA Regional Wrestler of the Year accolades at 149. Thompson becomes the first Oredigger since Paul Wilson in 2016 to reach #1 at his respective weight class.

DiBlasi opens up at #10 at 141 pounds after going 19-8 last year. A two-time NCAA qualifier and three-time All-RMAC recipient, DiBlasi is Mines' active leader in wins at 73-22 in his career with 24 falls.

The Orediggers open the new season this Sunday with the Mines Rookie Open at Steinhauer Fieldhouse, and hold their dual opener on Nov. 8 in a tri-meet with Snow College and Northeastern JC at Volk Gym.
