GOLDEN, Colo. - #20 Colorado School of Mines took both duals in a tri-meet on Friday, defeating Snow College and Northeastern Junior College in Volk Gym.
The Orediggers (2-0) put two different lineups on the mat, dispatching a tough Snow team 25-19 to start before shutting out Northeastern 53-0 behind nine bonus-point wins.
In the neutral dual to start the afternoon, Snow defeated NJC 40-18.
MINES 25, SNOW COLLEGE 19
Four major-decision victories keyed Mines' win over Snow College as they took an early lead and held on in a 25-19 victory.
Xander Sweeney, #10
Grayston DiBlasi,
Wyatt Reisz, and
Avery Krippner all won by major and
Kaleb Valdez-Lemos pulled out a late win by decision while
Christian Lopez won by forfeit.
After Lopez's automatic six points at 125, Sweeney made his Mines dual debut up a weight with an 11-3 win at 133, and DiBlasi scored a couple of tilts to win 19-6 at 141 to put Mines ahead 14-0. Snow picked up 11 points with a tech fall at 149 and pin at 157, but Valdez-Lemos wrestled the match of the dual at 165, getting a third-period escape and then a late takedown to come back and beat Caleb Marx 9-7. Reisz and Krippner then cruised, 18-6 and 18-4, respectively, to seal up the team win as Snow won at 197 on a late takedown and by technical fall at 285.

Caro, in his official Mines debut at 157, started off a string of pins with a first-period fall, and Cody and Ibrahim also ended their bouts in the first period with Diel's pin coming at 4:08.
Lopez set the tone with a 16-0 shutout over Cade Liniger at 125, and
Trebor Moreno scored plenty in his 19-3 win at 133 over Calvin Mendez. Thompson, a returning all-American and 2024 national finalist at 149, got his season off to a winning start with his 18-2 tech fall over Silas Thompson, and
Tristin David blanked Ethan Sinclair 15-0 at 165. DiBlasi's win at 141 came by decision, 8-4.
