GOLDEN, Colo. - #16 Colorado School of Mines wrapped up an unbeaten RMAC season, closing their dual schedule with a 29-15 victory over Simon Fraser on senior night.
The Orediggers (12-2, 7-0 RMAC) were led by their seniors as
Christian Lopez and Grayson DiBlasi had bonus-point wins and
Carson Dulitz worked a decision to give Mines a commanding 20-0 lead after four weight classes.
With the win, Mines wrapped up the undisputed RMAC crown after clinching at least a share with their win over Colorado Mesa last Friday. It is the third RMAC title for the Orediggers, all coming since 2019.
Lopez needed less than a period to earn a 20-3 technical fall at 125 pounds against Marques Calapiz, turning his opponent four times in the first period. DiBlasi had an early takedown and ultimately pinned Arad Ahangi in 2:06 before Dulitz had takedowns in the first and third periods with a tough ride to beat Ryan Hicks 10-3 at 149.
SFU got on the board with Magnus McCrackin's 9-7 comeback win over
Marcus Caro, and
Tristin David was unlucky to lose by fall to Patrik Leder, getting caught in a roll on his own shot midway through the first period. Owen Gudmundson's seven-point third period topped
Ethan Kremer, 8-5, at 184, but
Jeffery Morosini snapped the Red Leafs' run with a 14-9 decision over Ricky Feroce at 197 that included a key reversal into a nearfall-3 to start the third period. Sam Pereira won the 285-pound battle against
Deandre Rucker, 10-3.
Trebor Moreno (133) and
Garrett Bakarich (174) earned wins by forfeit.
