HOW IT HAPPENED
Game one was all Orediggers. Lynch shrugged off back-to-back hits and struck out two for a zero in the first inning. In the bottom half of the same frame, Humphreys hit a three-run home run which afforded Mines a 4-0 lead. Lynch continued to cruise and Humphreys' double in the third sparked three more runs. The Orediggers' 7-0 lead became 8-0 on a Bilter single which scored Dunagan in the sixth. Nearly flawless work from Dobberthien and Monk closed out the victory.
The second game was a different story as the Mountain Lions racked up a 5-0 lead through the first four innings. Andrews broke up the shutout by plating Dunagan with a single in fifth, but UCCS responded with a single, unearned run in the top of the sixth. Humphreys, Leiphart, and Nielsen all scored in the bottom of the sixth frame. However, the bats went quiet in the seventh and the game went final.
