THE RMAC HUNT
It was a weekend full of upsets around the conference that has left four teams with one loss atop the standings, headed by Mines at 4-1 with Adams State and Chadron State both at 3-1, and Western Colorado at 2-1. With the CSU Pueblo meet being Mines' final RMAC dual of the season, a win would assure the Orediggers of at least a share of their second consecutive conference title. Western Colorado is at Chadron State Thursday and Adams State Friday night, which will help shake out the standings, but a two- or three-way tie for the title is possible from among those four teams.

LAST TIME OUT
Mines won a thrilling back-and-forth dual to upset previously-unbeaten #16 Adams State last Thursday, 26-20, at Volk Gym. Laith Ibrahim won a winner-take-all 285-pound bout by fall to break a 20-20 tie and Jakob Smith and Izaiah Padilla added crucial falls as the two teams split their wins 5-5. Cody Thompson earned a win by decision and Wyatt Reisz's technical fall at 184 helped Mines erase an eight-point deficit after 165.

MINES READIES TO HOST NCAA REGIONALS
Tickets are now on sale for the NCAA Division II Super Region VI Championships, which will be hosted by Mines at Lockridge Arena, the home of Mines basketball and volleyball, on Feb. 28. The one-day, four-mat meet, which qualifies wrestlers to the national championships, is returning to Golden for the first time since 2017. Fans can reserve their spot at tickets.minesathletics.com.

IN THE RANKINGS
The NWCA released its latest rankings last week and Mines slipped one spot to #22, with CSU Pueblo receiving votes. Individually, Cody Thompson is #3 at 149 pounds. In this week's OpenMat rankings, Thompson is #7 in his weight class along with Jakob Smith (#15 at 174), Wyatt Reisz (#19 at 184), and Mason Diel (#19 at 197) also appearing.

Hollenbeck's six falls also lead the team. In duals, Thompson and Jakob Smith lead the team with 43 dual points each while Wyatt Reisz has scored a team-best 17 against RMAC opponents.

THE 50-WIN CLUB
Cody Thompson is Mines' active career leader in wins at 58-18, and Wyatt Reisz joined him in the 50-win club with his victory at Colorado Mesa, putting him at 51-17 in his third season at Mines. Reisz is 8-3 this season wrestling as he has moved up from 174 pounds to wrestle at 184 and 197 over the past month.

AT THE HELM
Head Coach Austin DeVoe is in his 12th season in charge of the Mines Wrestling program, having rebuilt the Orediggers into a national contender with three RMAC titles, eight all-Americans, and eight Academic All-Americans in his tenure. With 94 dual wins under his belt, Mines has had seven consecutive winning dual seasons including the only three double-digit win seasons in program history, including tying the program wins record in 2022-23 with an 11-2 record and surpassing it with 13 in 2024-25. On the national stage, Mines has had team success as well including an 11th-place finish in 2022 which was the program's best finish since the 1990s.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Orediggers will shift home venues three blocks to the south for the rest of February, hosting Simon Fraser at Lockridge Arena on Feb. 13 in the leadup to the NCAA regional meet on Feb. 28, which will also take place at the home of Mines basketball and volleyball.
