MANHEIM, Pa. - Cody Thompson has been named the NWCA Super Region VI Wrestler of the Year for the second time in his career after the Colorado School of Mines senior won the NCAA Division II title earlier this month.
Thompson won the 149-pound national championship in Sioux Falls, becoming Mines' first champion since 1998 with a memorable run through the postseason that also saw him win the NCAA Super Region VI title. Thompson finished ranked #1 by OpenMat at 149 pounds and #7 in their pound-for-pound rankings. His 19-1 record in 2025-26 represents the best single-season winning percentage in program history (.950), and he was also named First-Team All-RMAC.
Thompson was also the regional wrestler of the year in 2024 after making the national final at 149 pounds. A two-time all-American, Thompson holds a 67-18 career record.
