COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Eight members of the RMAC-champion Colorado School of Mines wrestling team have been recognized on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's All-Academic teams announced Wednesday.
Cody Thompson, the 149-pound NCAA Division II national champion, highlights the group as a First-Team Academic All-RMAC selection in recognition of both academic and athletic achievement. The Orediggers had seven wrestlers earn RMAC Academic Honor Roll status, as well:
Marcus Caro,
Jaron Mahler,
Ben Fanelli,
Kaleb Valdez-Lemos,
Jakob Smith,
Wyatt Reisz, and
Yahir Chairez-Salazar.
Each institution's athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who are sophomores or above who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average for the Academic Honor Roll, and those with at least a 3.50 for recognition as First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league's athletic communications directors vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year.
