Academic All-District At-Large Teams
GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines golfer
Lukas Taggart and wrestler
Cody Thompson have been named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District At-Large team in recognition of their academic and athletic achievement in 2025-26.
The duo, both seniors, were both selected to move on to the ballot for Academic All-America after standout seasons for their teams.
Taggart earns the honor for the third consecutive year after being named the RMAC Academic Golfer of the Year this spring. Selected for the NCAA West/South Central Championship for the fourth consecutive year, Taggart finished fourth at the RMAC Championships and had a pair of top-five finishes to earn Second-Team All-RMAC status. Taggart graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Thompson, who earns his second career Academic All-District honor, was the NCAA Division II national champion at 149 pounds after a superlative 19-1 season. The NWCA Regional Wrestler of the Year, Thompson became Mines' first national champion since 1998 as he ran off seven straight postseason victories to first capture the regional crown before adding the NCAA title. Thompson has both his bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Mines.
The pair were named to the At-Large Team, which combines candidates from a number of sports including fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. All nominees must have a 3.5 or above GPA while holding sophomore or higher academic standing. Academic All-District recipients will go on to the ballot for the Academic All-America award, which will be announced later this summer.
