Mines Esports Lab Policies
Access
Access will only be provided to the Esports space, located at 1600 Jackson Street, Room 010 (basement level), across from Jackson Hall. For directions, visit Google Maps here.
- The Esports Lab is available on a drop-in, on a first-come first-serve basis during open recreation hours.
- The main entrance is located through the exterior door to the basement on the North side of 1600 Jackson.
- A Blastercard is required to access this door during open rec and club times.
- All patrons with a membership to the Rec Sports facilities are able to access the Esports Lab.
- A signed general Rec Sports waiver is required
- Day Passes will not be sold for this facility
- Unauthorized access is not permitted. To ensure our space is only used by authorized users, please ensure doors are pulled closed upon leaving, and report unauthorized individuals to the Esports Lab front desk.

- 12 gaming PCs with the following specs:

- 32GB RAM (2x16GB,, DDR5, 5600MHz)
- Storage: 2TB M.2 PCle NVMe Solid State Drive
- Alienware Gaming Monitor (27 inch, QHD, 280 Hz)
- Logitech G502 HERO High Performance Wired Gaming Mouse
- Logitech G413 SE Full-Size Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
- Xbox Series X with 3 wireless and 1 wired controllers
- A limited number of headphones (no microphone) are available to check out. We highly recommend bringing your own headphones/headsets. USB, USB-C, and 3.5 MM headphone ports are easily accessible at each station. Bluetooth connectivity is available but not recommended.
- Participants may bring their own peripherals; however, companion software may not be available depending on the brand. Please store the existing peripherals in the appropriate storage and return them to the station before leaving.
- Webcams, USB storage, and external hard drives are prohibited.
Xbox and PC Games

Most games available are free to play, but you will be required to have or create a personal account for each program using a valid email address. There may be a limited number of paid games available that the Esports Club competes in. These games are only available during open rec times if you have previously purchased this game on your account.
The Xbox is equipped with 1 wireless and 3 wired controllers. Pre-existing accounts for Xbox and/or games are not required, and online matchmaking is currently disabled. The Esports Lab Xbox is intended for quick play/exhibition games only – any franchise, my team, my player, etc. saves will be periodically deleted. Personal external hard drives are prohibited.

If a game or software needs to be updated, the attendant on duty can authorize updates.

Software requests may be made to Bob Petrowski, Director of Operations, at robert.petrowski@mines.edu. Only free-to-play games will be considered, and all decisions regarding games will be at the discretion of Rec Sports.
Code of Conduct
- This building is shared with several campus departments – please be respectful of all occupants. Excessive profanity, vulgarity, or yelling will not be tolerated, and you may be asked to leave. All related incidents will be reported to Rec Sports administrators and may jeopardize your ability to use the room in the future.
- Food is not allowed in the Esports Lab. Water in a closed container may be kept underneath the desk, but no other drinks should be near any stations.
- Participants will not be allowed to stay past closing times to finish games.
- Downloading and/or installing any additional games, software, mods, or skins is strictly prohibited. This includes using an external hard drive. The usage of each machine can be tracked, and anyone found to be violating this policy will have their access privileges revoked.
