Tyson Reiner

Tyson Reiner has been an assistant coach for Colorado Mines wrestling since the summer of 2015.

Reiner came to Mines from NCAA Division III's premier program, Wartburg, where he helped the Knights win two national titles and three NWCA National Duals meets. In two tenures at Wartburg (2010-11 and 2013-15), Reiner was involved in all aspects of the program, and also served as an admissions counselor for the school. Prior to that, Reiner was the graduate assistant coach at St. Cloud State University from 2011 to 2013, helping the Huskies to back-to-back NCAA Division II runner-up finishes, a pair of National Duals crowns, and two NSIC conference titles.

In his career as an assistant coach, Reiner has had tremendous success including two NCAA national team championships, three NCAA team runner-up finishes, five National Duals titles, and five conference crowns while coaching eight individual national champions and 35 all-Americans.

As a student-athlete, Reiner wrestled at the University of Northern Iowa, twice qualifying for the NCAA Division I Championships and winning a Western Wrestling Conference championship at 157 lbs. with two second-place finishes. He was a two-year captain and three-year starter, and served four years on UNI's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee while earning the university's McCready/Steffensmeier Award for Leadership. The Mitchell, S.D. native was a four-time South Dakota state finalist and two-time state champion as a prep athlete. Reiner earned his bachelor's degree in secondary history education with a coaching minor from UNI in 2010, and is currently completing his master's in education administration and leadership through St. Cloud State.

Reiner is joined in Colorado by his wife Randi, who teaches sixth grade in the Gilpin County School District.
