GOLDEN, Colo. - Led by
Duke Douglas' career-high 29 points, Colorado School of Mines advanced to the RMAC Tournament semifinals with a 95-83 win over UCCS on Tuesday.
The third-seeded Orediggers (22-7) move on to face second-seeded Regis on Friday in Durango, at a time to be announced. In the other semifinal, the host Fort Lewis will meet Adams State.
UCCS had no answer for Douglas, who shot 12-for-15 and added two blocks and two assists. All five Mines starters scored in double digits as
Luke Schroepfer drained 20,
Ben Sonnefeld had 14 (including a perfect 10-for-10 night at the line),
Michael Glen had 13, and
Adam Laine 12.
After a back-and-forth opening 10 minutes, Mines took control of the game with a 9-2 run midway through the first half that set their lead at 11, 38-27, after Laine's three-point play with 4:30 left before the half. It was a 7-0 run to start the second half, however, that really put UCCS on their heels as Douglas opened with a jumper and added a breakaway dunk to make it 46-34 and force an early UCCS timeout.
Mines grew the lead to as much as 18 after consecutive buckets by Laine and Glen but couldn't shake the Mountain Lions as they entered a 19-9 stretch after that to cut the lead to eight, 64-56, at the 9:05 mark. Mines never led UCCS get closer than seven points, however, with the dagger coming on a wide-open Douglas three with 3:45 left as Mines ended the game with a 12-5 run.

Zach Rusk (4-for-4) - were perfect at the line.
- Elijah Ross led UCCS with 24 points.
- Sonnefeld did a little bit of everything dishing seven assists, blocking two shots, and snagging three steals to go with his 14 points and six rebounds.

- Mines advances to the RMAC semis for the third consecutive year. The Orediggers have been to the championship game each of the last two years, losing in Durango in 2015-16 and winning it at home last year.
