GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.
- A pair of individual titles and seven overall medals highlighted Day 2 of the RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships for Colorado School of Mines.

Annie Osmun won the 100-fly and Ronan Lauinger the 400-IM among five individual medals for the Orediggers on Thursday. Halfway through the meet, both Mines teams sit second with the men at 450.5 and the women at 385.5 team points.

The third day of the meet begins at 9 a.m. Friday with the 500-free, 100-back, 100-breast, 200-fly, and 800-free relay in the pool.

100-BUTTERFLY
Osmun defended her title in the 100-fly, swimming 57.81 in a thrilling final to capture gold. Osmun out-touched Colorado Mesa's Logan Anderson by five-hundreths of a second, and Mines went 1-3-4 as Jorie Selig took bronze in 58.25 and Erin Taggart was right behind in 58.30. Sophia Buhr won the "B" final in 58.96 with Jules Hays a spot behind in 59.20, and Lauren Mayo finished 14th overall in 1:00.92 with Emma Neuroth 16th in 1:01.35.

Charles Burroughs claimed silver and Robert Clayton bronze in the men's race as Burroughs set a new program record with his NCAA B time of 48.38 seconds. Clayton swam 49.26, and Mines took big team points from the event as Harry Smith was fourth (49.40), Seth Krause fifth (49.60), and Joe Peak eighth (50.37). Sam LaPrade was 12th overall (50.64) and Jack Engler 15th (51.30). 

Burroughs bested Jerry Birnbaum's record of 48.52 set at last year's RMAC meet.

400-IM
Lauinger won a comeback race to capture his first career RMAC title in the 400-IM, touching in an NCAA B time of 3:59.80. Lauinger made up ground in the breaststroke and then caught CMU's Jake Simmons on the freestyle with 150 yards to go to win. Braden Whitmarsh was fourth in 4:03.28, and Joe Peak, just minutes after swimming the 100-fly final, was sixth in 4:08.64 with Scott Reeder seventh in 4:11.19. Josh Lee placed 12th in 4:14.81. 

Olivia Kisow led the Mines women with a fifth-place 4:36.22, and Isabella Bono was seventh in 4:39.58. Just as she did in the 100-fly, Buhr won the "B" final in a time of 4:44.47 for ninth, with Rachel Fontan coming in 11th in 4:48.59.

200-FREESTYLE
Garrett Waite took fifth in the men's 200-free with an NCAA B time of 1:40.37, while Mines packed the "B" final with six swimmers. Michael Kietzman led that group with a 10th-place 1:41.69, and Nick Delany (11th, 1:42.36), Gavin Gilmore (13th, 1:43.27), Braden Hunt (14th, 1:43.92), Jaron O'Grady (15th, 1:44.74), and Henry Oberley (16th, 1:49.30) were all in the race.

Meghan Slowey was the lone women's swimmer in the "A" final and placed sixth in 1:54.62, while Maddie Finley came in 13th in 1:57.99, Lauren Mayo 15th in 1:59.24, and Jess Engel 16th in 2:03.99. 

400-MEDLEY RELAY
Both Mines 400-medley relays took third to end the evening. The women's relay of Emma Neuroth, Selig, Osmun, and Finley swam 3:55.34 for third paced by Finley's 52.52 freestyle anchor. The men swam 3:20.31 with Krause, Engler, Burroughs, and Kietzman with Kietzman anchoring in 45.73.
