COLORADO SPRINGS - Cody Thompson's unbeaten tournament at the Jack Hancock Duals has earned the Colorado School of Mines 149-pounder the final RMAC Wrestler of the Week award of 2025.
Thompson went 3-0 for the Orediggers on Saturday, including a pin over a ranked opponent as Mines was 2-1 in their home dual tournament. Thompson started with what would prove to be an important 8-2 win over Central Missouri's Trey Dillow as Mines ultimately won over the #17-ranked Mules on a tiebreaker; Thompson then majored Belmont Abbey's Skyler Caban 12-4, and picked up a significant win in the final dual of the day against Minnesota State pinning #12 Walker Bents in 1:47.
Ranked #2 by the NWCA and OpenMat at 149 pounds, Thompson is a perfect 7-0 so far this season, compiling 31 dual points to lead Mines to a 6-1 record. It is his second RMAC Wrestler of the Week award and first since Nov. 21, 2023.
The Orediggers return after the holiday break to visit Chadron State Jan. 9.
