LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Two home runs for the Colorado School of Mines Baseball team on Saturday were not enough to keep Colorado Christian from dealing the Orediggers a 6-5, walk-off loss at All-Star Park.
Mason Andrews provided one of the home runs as part of a 2-for-4 day at the plate. He also scored two runs and notched two RBI.
Alex Dunagan had the other home run.
Jackson Babcock turned in a two-hit performance with one run and one RBI. The highlights on offense were capped by a run from
Jackson Woolwine, stolen bases from Andrews and
Canon Humphreys, and a Babcock double. On the mound,
Peter Lynch was the starter and took no decision after two runs (one earned) on six hits with one walk and one strikeout in 3.0 innings of work.
Seaver Newby (6-6) wore the loss after 3.0 innings of one-run, three-hit relief. Newby struck out two and walked two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saturday's contest was a thrilling, back-and-forth affair. Mines scored first in the first inning on a one-run single off the bat of Babcock which plated Andrews. Colorado Christian scored once in the first and again in the third to take a 2-1 lead. But the Orediggers responded in the fifth frame with Dunagan's solo home run. Major Maydon hit a two-run home run and provided CCU a 4-2 advantage after five full innings of action. A Cougar error allowed Babcock to score in the sixth before the home team scored in the same inning to make a 5-3 score in favor of Colorado Christian. Andrews' two-run home run in the top of the eighth added to the drama. Unfortunately for the home team, the bottom of the ninth featured two one-out walks and a pair of singles which led to the 6-5 decision.
