#22 Mines Routs CSUP For RMAC Championship Repeat

2/6/2026 8:38:00 PM

GOLDEN, Colo. - #22 Colorado School of Mines clinched at least a share of its second consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship, routing CSU Pueblo 42-3 on Senior Night at Volk Gym.

The Orediggers (10-2, 5-1 RMAC) were unstoppable, racking up eight bonus-point victories to secure their fourth conference title since 2019, all coming under Head Coach Austin DeVoe

Jake Goodwin rolled up Thomas Valdez for a first-period pin to start things rolling at 125 pounds, and Izaiah Padilla made it 11-0 after a dominating 19-4 technical fall over John Spence at 133. Ryan Espiritu attacked first and earned a takedown into a nearfall, but #13 Eddie Bowman wrestled effectively from behind to earn the only CSUP win of the night, 13-8, at 141 pounds.

#3 Cody Thompson, one of four seniors in the lineup, closed his Volk Gym career with a 17-1 technical fall victory over Kevin Boston before Brandon Cody did the same against Hunter Richardson by an 18-1 score. Deringer Hollenbeck picked up a 16-5 major over Deacon Pickett at 165, and senior Jakob Smith fought off early offense from Solomon Arnds-Volcin to earn a 12-4 major of his own.

Two more seniors, Wyatt Reisz and Mason Diel, earned back-to-back wins at 184 and 197 as Reisz pinned Donn Greer 30 seconds into the second period and Diel shut out Mario Tafoya 8-0.

The closest bout of the night came at heavyweight where only escapes by both Laith Ibrahim and Henry Sturn were scored in regulation; Ibrahim secured a takedown out of a scramble midway through the first sudden-victory period to win, 4-1.

Mines could still win the RMAC title outright as Adams State (4-1) has to wrestle New Mexico Highlands on Feb. 11; should ASU win that dual, they would split the title with Mines, while a NMHU win would give it solely to Mines.

The Orediggers close their dual season Feb. 13 when they host Simon Fraser at Lockridge Arena.
