ALAMOSA, Colo. – The offense clicked Saturday for the No. 23-ranked Colorado School of Mines Baseball team as it swept its doubleheader with Adams State 5-1 and 16-5, as Mines extended its winning streak to six games.
Jace Selsor took the lead on offense with five hits and five RBI. He finished the day batting .625 with four runs on one home run and one double.
Trevor Kehe and
Joe Popp both batted .571 with a combined five runs and five RBI. Popp also hit his ninth home run of the year.
Daniel Ciraula finished the day with two runs on three hits and three RBI, including his second triple of the season.
Derek Daly also went long for the Orediggers as he scored two runs and drove in four.
On the mound,
Tyler Blomster (5-0) got the complete-game victory in game one as he surrendered just one run on seven hits while striking out seven Grizzlies.
Jake Englehart (2-0) got his second win of the season in game two thanks to 5.0 innings of three-run, nine-hit work with one strikeout.
Owen Pigati provided one inning of perfect relief in game one.
Drew Hill came out of the bullpen and tossed two innings with four strikeouts in game two. Drew Brennan (0-6) and Andrew Shaw (0-6) took the losses for Adams State.
Game One – Mines 5, Adams State 1
The Orediggers (25-8, 18-5 RMAC) jumped ahead early with two runs in the opening frame. Kehe led the inning off with a double and Selsor followed up with his fifth home run of the year to make it 2-0. Mines added two runs in the second inning and another in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.
Adams State (1-36, 1-22 RMAC) broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 5-1. However, Blomster helped the Orediggers toss up two zeros in the fifth and sixth inning and Pigati tossed a shutout seventh inning. The Grizzlies managed just three hits in the final three frames.
Game Two – Mines 16, Adams State 5
It was all Mines from start to finish. Gangwish and Popp drove in three runs in the first inning. A wild pitch from ASU and a Popp double plated two runs in the second. Daly's homer helped Mines score four runs in the third inning to make it 9-0, Orediggers.
Adams State scored three in the fourth inning and used a two-run bomb in the seventh inning to get on the board. However, Mines added two runs of insurance in the fourth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh as it scored in every inning of the game except the fifth.

- Selsor's home run in game one broke the program record for combined dingers in a single season with 56 bombs. Mines now has 58 home runs in 2018.
- Kehe has reached base safely in every game this season, an active streak of 43 games dating back to last season.
- Mines is 9-1 in its last 10 games.
