GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines Baseball team dropped its RMAC Pod Weekend opener Saturday as Colorado Christian used four home runs to claim an 11-6 victory at Jim Darden Field.
Trevor Kehe led the Oredigger offense with one run and one RBI on three hits.
Jace Selsor went 2-for-5 with a double.
Mikey Gangwish had two hits with a triple and two RBI while
Colton Wardle went 2-for-4.
On the mound,
Drew Burman (5-2) was dealt the loss after surrendering eight runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.
Matt Martin provided one inning out of the bullpen while
Jake Englehart struck out seven Cougars in 5.0 innings of one-run, six-hit relief. Joey Loranger (3-2) pitched the complete-game victory for CCU with six runs on 11 hits and nine strikeouts.
Colorado Christian (14-14, 9-9 RMAC) exploded for 10 runs in the first four innings to put Mines (19-8, 12-5 RMAC) in a 10-1 hole. The Orediggers scored three runs in the fifth with single runs in the eighth and ninth while Englehart put up four straight zeros on the mound. However, Mines' pushed proved too little too late as Loranger went the distance on 131 pitches.
