GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The final morning of prelims yielded 25 qualifiers for Colorado School of Mines at the 2022 RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships.
In addition to those 25, Mines will also have four swimmers competing in the 1,650-free timed finals tonight when the last session of the meet kicks off at 5 p.m.
100-FREESTYLE
Harry Smith qualified fourth to lead three Oredigger men into the "A" final, swimming an NCAA B time of 45.19.
Garrett Waite (45.76) and
Braden Hunt (46.01) are seventh and eighth, respectively.
Nick Delany (46.64) and
Joe Peak (47.08) are into the "B" final as well.
Michael Kietzman (47.54) and
Robert Clayton (47.73) are the alternates in 17th and 18th, while
Owen Nord swam 46.94,
Connor Wong 47.26, and Max Waring 48.16 all in exhibition.
Maddie Finley led the Mines women qualifying fifth in 52.55.
Jorie Selig (53.14),
Annie Osmun (53.34), and
Maggie Wells (53.89) will be in the "B" final.
200-BACKSTROKE
Sam Henney qualified fifth in the women's race in a time of 2:06.46, and three Orediggers -
Jess Engel (2:10.98),
Emma Neuroth (2:11.69), and
Ava Burger (2:12.60) - will be in the "B" final.
Jules Hays finished 19th in 2:17.10.
For the men,
Braden Whitmarsh (1:52.93) and
Seth Krause (1:53.61) are in the "A" final qualifying sixth and seventh, and
Sam LaPrade will be in the "B" final qualifying 10th in 1:56.99. Jarod Scharer was the fastest Oredigger in exhibition in 1:50.81.
200-BREASTSTROKE
Erin Taggart qualified third in the 200-breaststroke in 2:25.87, and she'll be joined in finals by
Claire Lautman (5th, 2:26.73) and
Olivia Kisow (6th, 2:28.46).
Rachel Fontan made the "B" final in 2:31.92.
Three men are into the "A" final with
Jack Engler (2:04.69),
Gavin Gilmore (2:05.66), and
Ronan Lauinger (2:06.38) qualifying sixth through eighth, and
Charles Burroughs was ninth in 2:06.97 with
Nick Delany 11th in 2:08.51.
Nathan O'Neil also swam 2:10.29 in exhibition.
1650-FREESTYLE
The timed finals in the mile saw a few Orediggers compete in the morning as
Hunter Stewart swam 18:55.49 for the women;
Isabella Bono and
Meghan Slowey will be in the third heat tonight.
Scott Reeder is second after his 1,650-free heat in an NCAA B time of 16:18.44, with
Henry Oberley third in 17:03.14.
Andres Saa swam 16:37.30 in exhibition.
Josh Lee and
Jaron O'Grady will swim the final heat tonight.
